The clock will announce the day and date. So when you press the 'Date' button, you will hear, for example, "Wednesday, June third, two-thousand-and-nine" i.e. the day of the week is announced at the beginning, then the date. The voice itself is loud and very clear (volume of voice announcements can be adjusted). Pressing the 'Time' button causes a voice to announce the time, e.g. it will say "The time is twelve-oh-four-a m"
