This talking watch announces both the time and date and is set automatically by a radio time signal received from the air. This signal sets the time and date on the watch automatically. The radio control feature also changes the time from British summer time to winter time automatically, and vice-versa of course. Just leave the watch by a window in order to receive the strongest possible signal.
The watch comes pre-set to receive the UK time signal from the UK time transmitter based at Anthorn, Cumbria, which has an approximate reception area of up to 1000 kilometres (620 miles).
The watch can also be used in Germany, the USA, and Japan (60 KHz only) where the radio time signal can be received and sets time and date automatically to the local time in those places - no need to worry about what time zone you are in!
In countries with no radio time signal transmission, or in cases of poor signal reception, the watch can be set manually.
The watch automatically receives the radio time signal at 3 a.m. each day to maintain accuracy. All you have to do is position your watch face down on a flat surface near a window when you go to bed. The signal will be updated at 3 a.m.
You can test this by pressing one of the buttons on the watch for a reception status. If your watch is unable to make contact with the radio signal, it will continue to function in the same way as a standard watch. The time will then be corrected the next time your watch receives the time signal.
Full instructions included :
The instruction booklet included with your watch will tell you how to select the time signal when you are in different countries.
You can set your watch to receive either UK, Germany, USA or Japan (60 KHz) signals. When you select a new country the watch will adjust to the local time. The second hand will run fast during the adjustment and then return to normal.
Other instructions are also provided for:-
* Setting a daily alarm
* Turning the alarm On / Off
* Turning Chime On / Off (Hourly time announcement) - When the Chime is On, the watch will announce the hour every hour for you
* Manual time setting - a function that is available when you travel to countries with no radio time signal (your watch must be reset to receive the radio signal when you return to the UK, Germany, USA or Japan)
Metallic bracelet :
The clasp on the metallic bracelet is located centrally, either side of the bracelet links. To undo the clasp, you simply unclip the small catch over the clasp and pull it up. Full instructions are included.
The bracelet is adjustable (we recommend that this is done by a jeweller or watch maker as it requires tools to remove and replace the spring-loaded adjustment bar).Replacement watch straps are available from jewellers or watch specialists.
Battery replacement :
The watch comes with a CR2032 battery included, so the watch is ready for immediate use. When a battery is required, it is recommended that trained jewellers or watch specialists should fit the new battery to avoid any damage to the watch.
Please note that Talking Watches are not water-resistant.
