The TechAffect water detector / water alarm (Water Leak & Overflow Alert Alarm) sounds a very loud alarm (120db) if any unwanted or unexpected water reaches its sensor i.e. bath level too high, leak, etc. The alarm will alert you in time so that you can act quickly to prevent water damage.

Operation:

To operate the water leak alarm, or to use it as a bath alarm, you simply place it on the wall or other suitable surface and locate the sensor where you think water might collect.

The sensor in the detector relies on the electrical conductivity of water. If sufficient water completes an electrical circuit between the two contacts located in the sensor part of the device, an audible alarm is sounded that alerts to the presence of the water. The alarm then continues until it is switched off or its batteries run down

The simplicity and ease-of-use of the Water Leak & Overflow Alert Alarm therefore makes it useful in a variety of situations. Use it in areas near appliances that have the potential to leak water, such as under sinks, by the water heater, in the basement, near dishwashers and refrigerators, under fish tanks, near plumbing and toilets etc.

Absolutely perfect I just hang it 4 inches from top of bath, and the second the water reaches it, off the alarm goes. No more bathroom floods.

no battery included but only a 9v square type
can definitely hear the alarm down stairs when bath water reaches the alarm level lol even outside in the garden, infact next door could probably hear it. but better that than another overflowed bath :)

Really works!
I have bought water overflow devices before. Although they worked, the 'beep' produced was not very loud and was high-pitched;  both of these made it difficult for someone of my age to hear. In contrast, this alarm is really loud and has a warbling tone: something extra to catch one's attention. You are not going to ignore this if water hits the floor! Although the device itself is small, it appears to be well made: hard plastic, snap-fitting, and screws to hold the device together.

So simple and easy to fit for peace of mind
Very easy to fit into my application - just what I was looking for. As long as the battery is good you have a great device to sense even the smallest water leak.
